WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?
This course is suitable for children from age 8 (accompanied by an adult)

HOW LONG IS THE COURSE?
This woodworking course lasts for approximately 2 1/2 hours.

WHAT SKILLS WILL I LEARN?
• Using a Japanese saw and bench Hook
• Learning to shape wood using a rasp
• Professional sanding techniques
• Gluing and clamping
• Using the pillar drill for accuracy

ABOUT THE COURSE:
Get stuck into real woodworking with this immersive 2.5 hour beginners course for kids. This course is a simplified version of the adult course (launching soon) and is suitable for ages 8+.

On arrival, we’ll provide you with your own prepared stack of pine, which you’ll use to build your brilliant wooden dog light.

Our experienced instructor, Jonty will show you how to shape the wood using rasps and files.

We’ll get the pieces sanded beautifully and then mark up and drill a variety of holes so we can connect the dog together.

We’ll spend some time gluing together the components to make the light up head, installing the see through face plate and getting everything looking perfect.

Once we’re happy, we’ll use our custom bolts, caps and lock washers to build our delightful doggy until it’s perfect and ready to take home. Our final step is to install the included battery powered L.E.D.s or the optional 240v lamp kit.

The wooden dog lamp is left raw so you can apply any finish you like at home or simply leave it as it is. We have a range of clear and coloured oil kits and wax kits available to purchase in the workshop should you wish.

This course is run in our workshop in Crondall, just off the A287 on the Hampshire/Surrey border. We are extremely proud of the Ash & Co workshop and offer a safe and friendly environment that welcomes all ages and genders to share in our passion for making.
