Make a Beer Caddy or Tool Box

Discover the joy of woodwork and master new practical skills building your own wooden beer caddy or tool box.

In this three hour beginners course, makers will dive into the world of woodworking, learn new skills and craft a functional and stylish box. You can choose to add a bottle opener to make a beer caddy, or leave it off and 'voila' - you have a beautiful tool box!

WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?
This course is suitable for adult beginner woodworkers. No previous experience is necessary.

HOW LONG IS THE COURSE?
This woodworking course lasts for approximately three hours.

WHAT SKILLS WILL I LEARN?
• Proper sanding techniques to achieve a professional finish
• Shaping the toolbox handle using rasps and files
• Using a pillar drill and Forstner drill bit
• Accurate marking and measuring
• Assembly techniques using glue, clamps, and nails
• Finishing with Walnut oil stain.

ABOUT THE COURSE:
Upon arrival you will be provided with pre-cut planks of high-quality pine, the perfect material to construct your tool box from. We'll guide you through the step-by-step process, ensuring you learn essential woodworking techniques while enjoying a fun and fulfilling maker experience.

The journey begins with the art of sanding, where we'll teach you the importance of achieving a smooth and polished surface. Armed with top-notch sandpaper, you'll learn how to transform rough planks into beautifully finished pieces.

Next, we'll delve into shaping the tool box's handle. You will have a go with rasps, files and spokeshaves to gently curve the handle under the expert guidance of our instructor, Jonty.

Once all the components are ready, you will assemble your tool box using glue and clamps. To ensure durability, extra security will be added with carefully placed nails.

Once the beer caddy/toolbox is ready, we'll apply the walnut finish to protect the beer caddy and attach the bottle opener on the side to create a great little project that will last for years.
