Make a Hexagon Shelf – Beginners Woodworking Course
We currently don't have any dates planned for this course but please get in touch if you are interested in taking part.
Discover your inner woodworker and make an on-trend hexagon shelf for your home. Immerse yourself in the joy of making with our hands-on course, suitable for beginners and split over two relaxed evening sessions lasting three hours each.
Our friendly instructor will give you the skills you need to make truly beautiful shelf and surprise your friends and family by taking home a finished product that will last a lifetime and look great in your home. You can choose which lovely hardwood you would like to use to make the best shelf for your home; English Ash, Prime Oak or American Black Walnut.
Starting with a drawing and a plank of furniture grade Ash, Oak or Walnut - you’ll learn how to transform it into a stunning shelf, from start to finish.
By the end of the first evening, you will know how to mark-out wood for cutting, how to set-up and use a table saw properly and how to use jigs as well as learning how to properly glue joints together. You’ll know which clamps to use to get the right result for any project.
On the second evening, you’ll learn how to attach wall fixings to your shelf and how to properly sand and finish your project to get a super smooth satin sheen that you’ll be proud of.
You will leave the workshop with a set of skills that will last a lifetime and get you making your own projects in no time.
CHOICE OF WOOD:
As standard, we supply furniture-grade solid English Ash with this course. This is a lovely wood to work with, is quite light in colour with beautiful grain patterns and looks great when finished.
If you prefer you can upgrade to Prime Oak which has a richer colour and wonderful grain texture and is very popular for home decor.
If you really want to push the boat out, you can opt to make your shelf with American Black Walnut. Dark in colour, with a grain that is to die for, your hexagon shelf will look amazing in solid walnut.
