Make a Blanket Ladder – Beginners Woodworking Course
*We do not currently have a date planned for this workshop but please get in touch if you would like more information*
Want to try woodworking? Would like to make a lovely, functional piece of furniture for your own home? Then come and join our ‘Make a blanket ladder’ weekend woodwork class. Suitable for beginners with no previous woodworking experience necessary. You can even bring a partner and create your blanket ladder together…
In this full day beginners course running from 9.30am until 5pm, you will learn how to get from two planks of wood you can buy in any hardware shop to a finished blanket ladder you can take home and be truly proud of.
With our friendly instructor by your side, you will start the day learning how to mark wood accurately before using learning how to use the tablesaw, bandsaw or circular saw to cut your components to size.
You will learn how to use a handheld router with a template to cut rebates in the ladder sides before sanding your components to get a silky smooth finish. You will also learn how to drill holes, glue and screw your ladder together as well as learning how to properly sand and finish with wax and polish to achieve your stunning final finish.
We will work with you side by side at every step to ensure you come away with something you’re proud to show off to your friends and family and be able say ‘I made that’.
Making is a true passion for us and our aim for the day is to teach you as many skills as possible so you can transfer those skills onto other projects you may decide to make in the future. Having a good understanding of how to use common power tools safely and accurately will give you the freedom of being able to make anything you want and allow you to further your learning if it turns out to be something you love doing.
If you don’t feel like coming along on your own then why not bring a friend for the day? For a small extra fee, you can opt to bring a plus one who can work with you during the whole day making the course suitable for couples, friends or parents and children (over the age of 12).
